Ancient Tantra – The Key To Ultimate Relationship Depth

Tantra is the key to deep emotional bonding and spiritualized relationships between men and women. It preaches that in relationships, we must find a balance between playfulness and seriousness while never losing sight of an essential erotic undercurrent. Tantra expounds the uninhibited expression of our humanness, and deplores the tendency of human relationships to become mechanical and soulless.

In our lifetime, we undergo several evolutionary changes. Tantra teaches us to meet these changes with enhanced awareness and self-honoring at every stage. By applying the precepts and practices of ancient tantra, we can ensure that our deepest relationships are rich in understanding, love and harmony.

We must learn to differentiate authentic tantra from the vacuous, superficial offerings being marketed by supposed tantra workshops. No ‘tantra retreat’ can hope to inculcate the necessary depth of spiritual awareness that defines pure ancient tantra. Remember, genuine tantra practices guided by an accomplished tantra master actually paint the tapestry of your life in new and joyous ways. As any qualified tantra master can affirm, there will never be any shortcuts to such a divine goal.

In present times, many relationships blow hot and cold, lacking in the depth and abundance that Nature decrees they should have. These relationships become uncomfortable and barren for both partners. This is because the partners love for themselves and harmony with each other, rendering them incapable of feeling expressing joy in the relationship. Sadly, the sacred message of tantra either never reaches their ears, or is garbled and rendered impotent by inept interpretation

An authentic tantra teacher works with his pupils to bring the joyful “Ohs” and “Ahs” back into their relationships by addressing physical, emotional and spiritual lacunae. The ecstasy returns – it seeps back in at the emotional and spiritual levels, and then spills joyously over into the physical realm. This is how expertly guided tantra practices heal our relationships, and help them be all they can be in our existence here on earth.

The sacred scriptures of ancient tantra are explicit on how spiritual harmony makes any relationship truly complete. To quote from the ‘Yoni MahaNirvan’:

“Hold me close, profoundly and spiritually
So as much as His arms were around me,
I feel a sense of peace and complete acceptance
And…..desire to be like this forever!

Sexual attraction has ended;  spiritual attraction has begun, spiritual attraction has begun… spiritual attraction has begun”

Most women know deep down that they possess the seed of profound harmony within. Most men know that their male energy is capable of balancing this harmony to completeness – to the joyful fulfillment of both partners. Enabling this blissful state of harmony is the sacred promise of tantra. Let nothing keep you from drinking deep of this ancient font of wisdom, and from taking your relationships from barrenness to divine levels of delight and harmony…

Tantric Kriya: Awareness With Anapanasati

We start with the kriya that will help you take the first step towards our sadhana of Tantric Awareness. Lie flat on your back with the arms beside and in-line with your body and palms facing upwards.

Move your feet slightly apart to a comfortable position. Close your eyes and breathe deeply and just experience the breath coming in.

When the passage of breath touches your nostrils, let the breath move in slowly within you. During this time, you are not supposed to move any part of your body even if discomfort occurs. If you feel uncomfortable, you must not proceed further.

Now continuing this kriya, as you breathe deeply… try to go within in terms of awareness with your breathing-in and move with the breath fully conscious of its passage.

When you are going with the breath, do not miss the breath. Do not go ahead and do not follow behind, just go with it. Breath and consciousness should become one.

The breath going in with you simultaneously is very important. Only then will it be possible for you to get the point between two breaths. So move in slowly with your breath, then move out with the breath slowly doing in-out, in-out. In Tantra kriyas, this is the first step and it is also known as Anapanasati.

The whole purpose of this first kriya is to make you aware of the brief silence between the two breaths. When you are able to experience that briefness within, you have come a little closer to the higher Tantric awareness that awaits you.
