Many people look at sex and orgasm in different ways. Unfortunately, for most it is bereft of any real pleasure. They engage in sex as an obligation. Most men know that women expect their mates to find them sexually attractive, and men feel that it is their duty to occasionally prove that they do. Women think that the only way they can keep their men engaged is by giving them sex. This kind of joyless sex is most common in marriages.

In tantra, this kind of viewpoint has no place at all. Your tantra teacher will inform you that sex is indeed about pleasure, and that obligation and duty have nothing to do with it. The actual physical orgasm is really little more than a bodily reflex – a hiccup of the genitals, so to speak. But the tantra orgasm is something else altogether – it is a worshipful activity, based on mutual adoration and cherishing. In tantric sex, the giving and receiving of pleasure is the primary objective.
The tantra orgasm is the joyous culmination of a prolonged and intensely pleasurable ritual based on ancient yogic precepts. One of the most important aspects of the tantric orgasm is the fact that it is a mindful event; in other words, physical reflexes have nothing to do with it. A man or woman trained by an expert tantra master experiences the entire process of lovemaking with complete awareness. There is no set goal… no finish line to breach.
As you practice tantra, your mind becomes conditioned to a mindful, worshipful attitude towards your intimate partner. Likewise, your body becomes conditioned by the regular practice of tantra yoga techniques. You become open to the true meaning and enjoyment of sex, and you will be able to recreate the excitement of each intimate encounter at any time.
With the tantric orgasm, both partners are intensely aware of everything that is happening, and they are in complete control of each moment. They are able to build the erotic tension of their intimate encounter slowly and mindfully, and are able to rein in their passion rather than being taken over by it.
As you progress with your instructions by your tantra teacher, you will begin to fully understand why the orgasm is a mind event, and that the body only reacts to the pleasure signals that the mind sends out to it. As you and your partner gain increasing control of your minds and your bodies become conditioned, you are actually becoming ready for intense levels of sexual pleasure. This kind of pleasure is not possible for the untrained mind and the un-conditioned body.
Unless you are aware of what you are doing, there is little option but to keep on doing it. This is why a normal orgasm is a predictable and largely joyless event. By practicing the tantric science under a genuine tantric teacher, you are freed from the slavery of physical reflex and are given the gift of mastery over your minds and bodies. The tantra orgasm is everything it has been said to be – it is limitless in pleasure, and it is not constrained by time. But in order to experience it, you must walk the tantric path with complete earnestness and dedication. If you are ready for this, lose no time in finding a suitable tantra master to guide the way.

The tantra orgasm is a transcended, higher form of sexual climax. It becomes possible when the tantric student has practiced the various tantra meditation techniques that help him or her focus the mind to a superlative degree. With the guidance of a genuine tantra master, this can be achieved within a relatively short period of starting expert instructions.

To explain the unsurpassed joy of the tantric orgasm, it is first necessary to explain in spiritual terms what sexual climax really is. Human beings whose minds have not been tutored in the spiritual arts have cluttered and disorganized minds. Their minds are incapable of focusing on the moment. At any given time, they are thinking about the past or anxiously trying to formulate the future.
The times of sexual climax are often the only times in their conscious lives that their minds have the opportunity to focus solely on the present. However, the quality of this momentary state of mindlessness is usually contaminated with all sorts of negative emotions such as irrational expectations, guilt about the past and fear of failure to perform.
Orgasm is definitely not possible if the mind is experiencing sexual stress, guilt or any form of sexual anxiety. For instance, a mind that is preoccupied with previous sexual failures during sexual intercourse has already cursed the present moment. Likewise, a mind that is focused on a desired outcome of a current sexual encounter has already cursed the present moment.
A person trained in tantric meditation techniques has overcome all prejudices and expectations. The act of sex is no longer a performance – it is a tantric ritual of worship. Genuine worship, borne of true devotion to one’s intimate partner, is timeless. The mind of a worshipful person is supremely capable of staying completely in the Now.
Witness the single-minded devotion of the ancient sages – there were no deadlines, no agendas, no expectations. Their worship sprang from one and only one desire – to offer their love to their deities. There was no question of feelings of inadequacy. There was no fear of failure. There was no greed for a desired outcome. The purpose was worship and only worship – Here and Now.
For untrained, men, the moment of sexual climax is a brief jolt or spasm in which the body convulses in order to enable ejaculation. There is a brief, very fleeting reward signal of pleasure sent to the brain – the reward Nature has bestowed for the cat of keeping the human race going. This kind of climax is a short process cantered around selfish pleasure.
During sexual intimacy, a person trained in the tantric arts experiences everything in the Here and Now. The present moment loses meaning in context with time, and so it becomes timeless. A tantra orgasm can therefore go on for a long, long time. Throughout this period, the mind stays completely in the moment, and so the moment literally seems endless.
If you wish to experience the timeless joy of tantric sex, be aware that you must be taught this ancient science of love and life by an expert. Only a tantra teacher who has received these secrets in a seamless progression from instruction from the Ancients can teach you what you need to know.

As a tantra teacher, I often refer to tantric sex and the tantra orgasm as ‘the small death’. This may seem paradoxical, since sex is basically a life-generating activity. However, in tantra, sex is the penultimate release of bliss. In a tantra orgasm, you vanish in totality for a moment. This moment may be short of prolonged, depending on how far your tantra teacher has taken you in his instructions.

During a tantric orgasm, the essential ‘you’ blinks out of existence. You lose all sense of self, all your concerns and fears disappear, and all that matters is that one celestial moment you share with your intimate partner. Both of you join the cosmic pool of existence, where identity is meaningless and all that matters is the Whole. You become part of the Whole. Blissfully, joyfully, you transcend everything that is basely human and get a taste of your true divine natures.
Such an orgasm is pure energy, so ego plays no part in it. You are not meant to control this moment. Many a time in my tantra for couples sessions have I been confronted with the misconception that the tantra orgasm is all about orgasmic control. These people have no idea what they are talking about. In tantra sex, the climax is pure chaos – there is no question of ‘control’. Your mind shuts down and your spirit takes over, so how can you possibly control anything? There is no context of time, and no agenda. You abandon yourselves completely and allow the cosmic forces that shaped you to have full reign.
In the tantra orgasm, you and your partner become one. No longer are you two separate beings with separate identities and individual aspirations from the sexual act. You are conscious to the moment, yet blissfully unconscious of yourselves as individuals. All boundaries are breached, all limitations overcome and every defensive wall crumbles into dust. You and your partner become infinite.
In tantra, climax control is not about conscious effort to prolong the moment of ecstasy. The physical climax may be short, but the profound joy of oneness with your partner – the oblivion you have achieved – can last for hours. This is a spiritual orgasm – a state from which you never want to emerge (but will, eventually). Your tantra teacher can instruct you in achieving this state and staying there to experience this joy of complete oneness with your partner.
Remember that tantric sex is very different from normal coitus. The entire process is one of mutual worship and cherishing. You are not quenching a thirst or sating a hunger. You are not fulfilling a need. Rather, you are immersing yourselves in a profoundly cosmic experience. It is an act of meditation and worship in which the concepts of time, ego and need have no place.
Normal sex is often combative – a clash of individual agendas to attain selfish satisfaction. In tantra sex, you and your partner melt into each other and become one. You have a single objective – and that is to offer love, pleasure and adoration to the other.
