Tantra means many things to many people, but the default understanding of the word pertains directly to mind-boggling sex and dark magical practices. It is not hard to understand why – both concepts pertain to miraculous powers that everyone years for. Sex is a word that grabs immediate attention – if Sigmund Freud was right, literally all human instincts derive from or lead directly to sex and sexuality.

power The Correct Use Of Tantra Power

Power is something that every human being wants more of, because most humans feel powerless over their lives for much of the time. Visions of stealthy yet inexorable revenge on those perceived to be enemies haunt the human mind, and this explains the lure of black magic.

A genuine tantra teacher will confirm that there is certainly power in tantra. However, it is not obtained by magic but by mindful, focused dedication and practice. Nor is tantra in any way magical. The fact that any energy can be harnessed, sublimated and transformed is a known fact of physics. For instance, hydraulic and nuclear power is based on precisely this premise. Learning tantra doubtlessly empowers the practitioner, but he who seeks this power for negative purposes is bent on a path of self-destruction.

The energy which has been harnessed will turn on him and destroy him just as surely as a renegade hydraulic forklift will smash its operator. However, when learned in the format prescribed by an authentic tantra teacher, the power of ancient tantra is used for spiritual growth and the propagation of human intimacy. This is the correct application of tantra power.

Both the seen and the unseen worlds function on an immutable law of cause and effect. Positive intentions lead to positive effort towards a positive goal, and will always result in positive rewards. The diametric opposite is also true. Tantra power harnessed and wielded for the positive purpose of promoting greater love, intimacy and bonding between two human beings cannot fail to yield the most positive results.

Fundamentally, tantra is a spiritually empowering science that was developed by ancient Indian sages who felt concern for the increasing disconnect between human beings and their cosmic heritage. Since the reproductive act is the highest form of creative power that mankind if blessed with, sex plays an integral role in tantric lore. However, the central concept has always been and will always remain ‘creation’. When tantric power is used for destructive purposes, it will turn on its wielder.

Are You Learning Genuine Tantra?

If you are like many seeking souls on the planet today, you would have heard of the healing and transformative powers of ancient tantra. This science of life and love, evolved and developed centuries ago by Indian sages, has restored thousands of relationships and opens up the spiritual realm for countless people even today. Under the tutelage of a genuine tantra teacher, human beings can discover their fullest spiritual and sexual potential.

love Are You Learning Genuine Tantra?

Because the secrets of tantra are only transferred from one generation of genuine tantric sages to the next, they are not openly available in the public domain. Nevertheless, there is no shortage of charlatans who poach on people’s ignorance and gullibility. They teach some form of counterfeit tantra which makes a big deal of so-called ‘sex secrets’ as a means to make a quick buck. Many Internet portals offer the ‘services’ of a ‘tantra goddess’ in a thinly disguised form of online prostitution.

If you have availed of such services, you would by now have suspected that something is amiss. Tantra is not merely about sexual gymnastics. If a so-called tantra instructor does not ensure that his students are learning spiritual principles and traditional yogic techniques, he is most assuredly a fraud. There is no shortcut to learning tantra. It is true that in modern times, the ancient tantric lore must be adapted for contemporary minds and time tables. While this means that a certain amount of the traditional discipline must be sacrificed, a genuine tantra teacher will not skip the most essential tantric techniques.

Today, a tantra master must ensure that his students are getting the full benefits of ancient tantra despite their pressing schedules. In ancient times, students of the tantric arts could devote years to learning the secrets of tantra. These days, tantra lessons must fit in with business meetings, commuting schedules and family time. Nevertheless, it is still possible to learn the secrets of harnessing tantra energy to boost sexual performance and increase intimacy in relationships. It depends on the skill and dedication of the tantra teacher, as well as the commitment of his students.

It is also possible to learn tantra online. Thanks to the proliferation of the Internet, a tantra master can now instruct his pupils over great distances. Online tantra courses are all the rage today, but the student must ensure that there is a proper, wholesome component of spiritual instructions involved. A tantric master who focuses solely on pandering to the baser desires should not be trusted.

Remember that even if you choose to learn tantra over the Internet, your tantric teacher should teach you how to raise your kundalini energy, help you in revitalizing your chakras and inculcate in you  reverence for the divine feminine – which is the true meaning of ‘tantra goddess’. It is understandable that you may have approached a tantra teacher because you yearn for more excitement n your intimate relationship. However, you must also be willing to embrace a path of spiritual evolution.

Compulsive Auto-Eroticism Is Incompatible With Tantra

There is a highly erroneous but persistent belief going round that auto-eroticism (with or without the use of pornography) is in some way compatible with or beneficial to the study of tantra. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, the tantric arts teach us to conserve and channelize sexual energy – not diffuse it wastefully.

energy Compulsive Auto Eroticism Is Incompatible With Tantra

In the Old Testament, the Bible admonishes man not to ‘spill his seed upon the ground.’ This warning has been interpreted in many ways. The Catholic Church used it to propagate its hard-line stance against contraception. To my thinking, this admonishment would be more aptly directed at compulsive self-gratification – which watching porn definitely encourages.

Learning tantra under an accomplished tantra master will definitely do wonders to your sex life, but sex is neither the beginning nor the end of the tantric sciences. The erotic expression of tantra energy has its place in the spiritual realm, but only when it takes place within the context of a loving, mutually worshipful man-woman relationship.

I am not against self-gratification itself. There is nothing wrong with it as long as it used as a means of relieving pent-up sexual energy that is becoming a source of stress and distress. There are many situations in modern life where indulging in sexual union with a loved one is not possible. In such situations, it is better to ‘spill one’s seed’ rather than be haunted by sexual desires that cannot be expressed in the best possible manner.

However, wilfully stoking the fires of these desires by compulsively indulging in porn is unhealthy and contrary to everything that tantra teaches. No genuine tantra teacher will ever advocate compulsive sexual behaviour. Tantra is a spiritual path that leads to wholesome relationships between the genders. The sexual powers that come with learning tantra must be used responsibly and maturely.

In order to practice tantra in the manner prescribed by the ancient tantric masters, one must understand and respect the nature and purpose of sexual energy. Our erotic drive has been given to us so that we may engage in a loving union with a beloved. It must be shared in a spirit of mutual adoration and cherishment. Compulsive self-gratification – with or without the use of pornography – is tantamount to compulsive self-love.

When abused as a means unto itself rather than being used wisely as a stress reliving method, it becomes an addiction. And any addiction, as we all know, is nothing short of selfish, wasteful, unspiritual and potentially harmful
