Yoni Tantra: Worshipping The Tantra Goddess

Yoni is a Sanskrit word for the vagina, which ancient tantra considers a lot more than just a sexual reproductive organ. The yoni is nothing less than the Sacred Temple of the Tantra Goddess. In fact, the vagina is also known as the Yantra – the dwelling place of universal tantra energy, or Shakti energy.  Yoni tantra is a sacred and secret scripture for initiates of the Tantra tradition, since it is the celebration of the Tantra Goddess.  There is great benefit for couples who study this scripture, and also for women who want to understand their real inner strength – and their true place in the Universe.

The sacred text from Bengal (16th century) that concerns itself with this aspect of tantra describes the Yoni Tantra Puja (worship). In this ceremonial tantra practice, the ordinary rules for tantra worship are suspended for the one who follows ‘Siddha Shakti’ precepts.  The following verse, when translated, yields the true meaning behind the concept of the Tantra Goddess: ‘Women are jewels, women are life, women are, truly, jewels.’ Invoking the tantra goddess within through this puja is an established path towards conscious self-realization. The process requires that that the Goddess be worshipped along with her yoni and the lotus budding from her neck, which signifies creation.

The Dasa Mahavidyas (or the Ten Divine Studies) are listed in the third patala of Yoni Tantra as Kali, Tara, Shodasi, Bhuvaneshvari, Bhairavi, Chinnamasta, Dhumavati, Bagala, Matangi and Kamala, and associated with the different parts of the yoni.  This can, of course, be very confusing for those who have just embarked on their study of ancient tantra and its profoundly mystical truths. To encapsulate the concepts in these scriptures – the vagina is a triangular form of Mahamaya or Prakrit, or the origin of the world. The three corners of the yoni are Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshvara. The vagina is divided into ten, each of which is considered a manifestation of the divine feminine (Tantra Goddess).

The shlokas (verses) are extremely explicit, and a new student of tantra is apt to misunderstand their real meaning. Tradition therefore requires that yoni tantra be studied only under the auspices of an authentic tantra master. Closely guarded, these tantra secrets are passed down from tantra teacher to tantra teacher and cannot be fully grasped from mere literature. Attempting to practice it without expert guidance is a corruption of energy and can lead to degradation of the Sacred Feminine – and this always has adverse consequences.

Tantra Yoga – Benefits and Prerequisites For Practice

Tantra Yoga is a much talked-about term, but what is it and what does it take to practice tantra yoga? Quite simply, it is a set of tantra exercises that harnesses extremely potent power for spiritual regeneration.

Because of this power, it lies at the fundaments of ancient tantra practice.Tantra yoga lays special emphasis on the development of the powers latent in our six chakras, from Muladhara to Ajna. It should be clarified here that tantra yoga is not concerned with sexuality, but with creative force and transmuting the energy of this force into higher channels.

This revered and highly efficacious form of tantra practice involves deep meditation, in which the student of tantra sits calmly and purifies the mind and heart of wayward thoughts and desires.Tantra yoga is a ritual path, and is often grossly misunderstood and wrongly practiced. The fact is that its practitioners must have purity, humility, devotion, courage, dedication to their tantra teacher, a deep understanding of cosmic love, faithfulness, contentment, dispassion, non-covetousness and honesty. This form of yoga is a process that can unfold one’s spiritual nature through the constant worship of the energy within, collectively known as Shakti.

Practiced diligently under the guidance of an accomplished tantra master, it brings about an awakening of the self.Tantra yoga does not limit itself to a particular branch of study – rather, it incorporates in it diverse elements which are linked by a unifying rule of Tantra Dharma. It aims to bring about consciousness in all states of human life – the conscious state, the waking state and the dream state. It is a path and practice that teaches the methods and ways by which we can discard intolerance, ignorance, selfishness and the animal instinct that lives in all of us.Tantra believes teaches us that the primary driving force behind the Universe isnothing but desire, and that desires are very natural for a soul residing in a human body.

Tantra yoga brings physical and mental cleansing through Pranayama (tantra breathing exercises) the visualization of energized energy vortexes (yantra) and deities, the repetition of mantras (energized sounds/words) etc. It is a holistic means of studying of the macrocosm from microcosmic point of view. When a student of tantra practices tantra yoga under a tantra teacher, he or she will soon be able to identify a wide range of factors that impact our thoughts and feelings. Regular practice of this most basic – and yet most powerful – manifestation of ancient tantra inculcates the contentedness, concentration and focus which are needed to release our consciousness from its inherent limitations.

In short – tantra states that desires are natural, and tantra yoga provides practical means and devices to reprogram our minds and desires so that they serve us, rather than the other way round.

Tantric Sex – Awakening The Female Super Orgasm

Woman is the embodiment of the Tantra Goddess, and her Shakti is unlimited. Tantra attributes to every woman an abundance of sexual spiritual energy, and wasting it is a serious transgression. As a woman’s shakti unfolds within her, her energy turns her into a divine priestess – and an empowered human-being.

As a rule, every woman should have the ability to achieve a tantra orgasm so that she can reach her fullest spiritual potential. The tantra scriptures corroborate that a woman’s complete enlightenment is achieved by the intensity of her orgasmic potential.

A woman must enhance her own orgasmic potential using tantra techniques such as ‘Yoni Vajra Rahasayam‘ and ‘Shwaas Gati Paddhati’. These involve spreading the orgasmic energy throughout the body. It also involves visualizing the energy moving through the insides of the legs and up the knees and thighs to culminate in the vagina (or Yoni). This helps focus the tantra energy. This helps enhance the orgasmic response and is extremely beneficial for women who find it difficult to have orgasms.

Squeezing your yoni nadis without spreading the energy too much would be a good start. As you squeeze some more, you will find the energy from your muladhara (root) chakra building up slowly and intensely. Keep up the squeezing gently, without inducing discomfort. You must not let this energy dissipate – instead, hold it within.

Gently inter-mingle the shakti elements of tantric breath with the Yoni nadis and visualize a huge gust of energy moving rapidly up and down your body, rushing up to your crown chakra, striking it with intense spiritual force and returning to strike your muladhara chakra. This will extend the orgasm to twelve or more orgasms in rapid succession, leading you to higher levels of conscious awareness.

This is a powerful and ancient technique. Do not use it without the proper reverence and context. Tantra for women influences mind, body and soul simultaneously, and should be practiced under the expert supervision of an accomplished tantra teacher. Amateur instructions or unguided self-practice will not benefit you in any way and may even cause much harm.

Put your heart and soul into these techniques – there has to be an aspect of divinity in everything you try to achieve.
