Tantra Vs. Rape And Sexual Disconnect
Ancient tantra has always maintained that sexual disconnect is akin to a crime. When people turn their backs on inner desires and basic instincts by practicing unnatural abstinence and unleashing its horrific forms upon oneself and others – the ‘shakti’ within becomes twisted. This degrades the general human consciousness. Those who practice tantra can resolve this sexual disconnect within themselves.
A tantra master will tell you that pleasure is the fulcrum of every act that we commit. When we are disconnected from this very basic principle of life, we distort our actions, our purposes and our lives. When you learn tantra, you learn not to turn your back on Desire – rather, you will understand that Desire is the backbone by which Tantra stands tall.
Research conducted on serial rapists – frustrated men turned into sexual deviants – reveals that such individuals have a very skewed vision of their basic instincts. For them, a woman is a hated sexual object to be violated and vilified. Through the act of rape, the man’s low self-esteem (turned into intense anger) seeks its revenge for the sexual disconnect within him. Such men do not see the Tantra Goddess in a woman – they are blind to the fact that woman is the true divine entity of the earth. Ancient tantra traditionally upholds her as the divine essence that can take man to higher levels of spiritual consciousness.
When the male essence is not in touch with its inner core, as frequently happens these days, man gives little thought to giving – his primary purpose in life. Instead, he aims to attain release as quickly as possible. This replicates itself in his daily activities as well, creating an escalating disharmony and sometimes leading to cases of molestation, harassment and rape.
Rape is the ultimate crime against the feminine essence – and also against the male essence. Tantra sees it as a deficiency in the man – a disconnect with the greater truth. The father who rapes his daughter seeks escape and distraction from this truth in his own home. The sexual act becomes no different from the act committed by animals – an urge satisfied perfunctorily.
The art of tantra gives humans the blessed opportunity to go beyond the mechanics of the act, and to transform it into a divine experience. When a man rapes a woman, he destroys that experience not only for the woman but also for himself. It is only when the sexual act is consensual and enacted with both partners in sync with one another that true pleasure can be experienced.
Those who learn tantra learn from their tantra teacher the fact that pleasure is the very basis of the sexual act. There is no true pleasure in rape, since the desire to rape is born out of hatred, anger and base lust. The very purpose of the Tantra Goddess – the sexual divine – is defeated when a man forces a woman to engage in sex with him. A man who is connected with his true essence is secure and knows the art of pleasurable living. He has no need to force a woman – his power lies in supreme attraction.
