The Importance Of Self-Control In Learning Tantra

You may wonder – why is a tantra teacher speaking of self-control? Isn’t tantra all about allowing my desires to soar free, and to indulge in all the sexual thrills that I have been suppressing so far? Doesn’t every second tantra master I find online promise me the power and freedom to indulge in unbridled erotic adventures?

meditation The Importance Of Self Control In Learning Tantra

Do not believe these so-called tantric experts. They are frauds who have never bothered to understand what ancient tantra actually teaches. They play on the sexual fantasies, fears and feelings of inadequacy that haunt most modern people today. As a tantra teacher who has received his knowledge from an unbroken line of the Indian sages who first formulated this science, I can tell you that this is all hogwash.

Sex in a tantric relationship is based on the concept of worship – and not just any kind of worship. If you watch how a traditional Hindu in India performs his acts of worship, you will understand. There are acts of purification. There are temporary periods of abstinence – from work, from food and from sex.

There is single-minded devotion to the deity. There are rituals to help the worshiper to stay focused, and his or her soul is shaped from a rough stone into a beautiful diamond in the process. And through it all, great discipline and self-control are key factors.

In a tantric relationship, we leave our animal nature and instincts behind. There is no unrestrained indulgence in sexual pleasures – rather, tantric sex is an act of worship, of devotion to one’s mate. It is not about you – it is about him or her. And in this selfless giving pleasure as an act of worship, you yourself are filled with sublime joy and rewarded with the highest form of spiritual as well as erotic experience.

However, it is not easy to reach a state in which you can give and receive in such a worshipful manner. The human being is, by nature, untrained and self-seeking. Imagine a situation wherein you are ready to pleasure your intimate partner and suddenly lose all interest in anything but your own gratification.

It is all over in a couple of minutes; you yourself feel the incompleteness of the act, but your partner has been completely short-changed. He or she feels used – perhaps even abused.

When you learn tantra from an authentic tantric teacher, you are being trained to give and receive pleasure in a meaningful, worshipful and self-controlled manner. There is no shortcut to such a state of being. You will have to tread the spiritual path that tantric seekers have had to follow throughout the centuries.

But when you have advanced sufficiently in your training, the rewards are more than you could have ever imagined.

Tantra Versus Religious Morality

Posted under Practice tantra, Spirituality, Tantra, Tantra Master, Tantra online guide, Tantra practices, Tantra Teacher and Tantric Master by Subhojit Dasgupta on May 13th, 2013 8:26 am

Every tantra teacher is sooner or later faced with the tricky task of explaining to his students the difference between spirituality and being religious. These two concepts are often considered to be one and the same, maybe with minor variations. Nothing could be further from the truth.

religious text Tantra Versus Religious Morality

Tantra is a spiritual path, and has nothing to do with religion. It has been argued that there are tantra deities who are worshiped, which makes it a religion. After all, idol worship is one of the hallmarks of religion. But as a tantra master, I want to clarify here that the tantra deities are, in fact, nothing but what we must strive to become. A tantric adept does not worship these deities as idols, but in the form of his or her beloved.

Religion exploits mankind’s innate fear of the unknown – fear of living a meaningless life, fear of death, fear of eternal damnation and fear of ostracism. The first and foremost objective of ancient tantra is to rid the practitioner of such fears. One of the most crippling fears that I encounter as a tantra teacher is the fear of sex itself.

Religious priests of all stripes have inculcated a feeling of wrongness about sex into the minds of the people they administer to. It is, in fact, a very clever thing to do – humans are sexual by nature, so sexuality will always manifest itself in their lives. This is necessarily true of other moral weaknesses such as greed or lack of humility. Sexuality is always present in human beings, so priests call it ‘lust’ and condemn it.

Tantra teaches us that our sexuality exists as our natural state, and that there is nothing ‘wrong’ or ‘sinful’ about it. It teaches us that we must recognize it as a divine gift – a gift with which we can express ourselves fully to our beloved. Once you recognize and accept this fact, almost every fear that the priests of the world have forced upon you fall away.

Sigmund Freud was right in stating that our sexuality is expressed in almost everything we do, and that its suppression leads to mental disorders. Ancient tantra is a path towards freedom from the oppression of religious regulation of your sexuality. While the tantric path has always been available to those who seek this freedom, the religions of the world have consistently condemned it as ‘evil’. Nothing that does not conform to the idols they advertise is condemned as ‘heathen’.

If you want to know more about the power of tantra and experience the freedom of self that it offers you, find a genuine tantra teacher and learn of this ancient spiritual path. When you learn tantra, you will experience a wondrous transformation is your relationship with your beloved – and an exhilarating freedom that you would never have thought possible.

A Tantra Viewpoint Of Karma

Posted under Tantra, Tantra Master, Tantra online guide, Tantra Student, Tantra Teacher and Tantric Master by Subhojit Dasgupta on May 6th, 2013 8:28 am

Karma has been described in many ways, but in ancient tantra it takes on a whole different meaning. This is because tantra is the science of love – of our relationship with ourselves, with our beloved and with the Cosmos. As such, the concept of karma must, for the student of tantra, also be seen in the light of relationships.

karma A Tantra Viewpoint Of Karma

Very fundamentally speaking, karma is the accumulated results of certain actions, or lack of them. If one was meant to do a certain thing and did not do it, karma is created. Likewise, if one was not meant to do a certain thing and yet did it, karma is created. It is unfinished business, which one has to finish in this or future lifetimes before one can ultimately join the Universal Whole.

Your tantra teacher will explain to you that if you have not wholeheartedly loved your man or woman, or have not been wholeheartedly been loved by him or her, there will be a karmic backlash. If you have utterly and completely loved your beloved, you are ensuring that it is finished – a job well done. You will carry no negative traces of this relationship into your next life – and you are free of any bondage or guilt in your current life.

This is a very important point to remember. For the ignorant, there may be no karmic backlash for an ineptly conducted relationship. They have no clue of their responsibilities in relationships, and experience them more or less at the instinctive level of animals. But for those who are learning tantra from an experienced tantra master, ignorance is no longer an excuse. They have been given the sacred knowledge of their divine nature, and with such knowledge comes responsibility.

Today, we find many people going from one bad relationship into the next without ever knowing that they are playing out their accumulated karma. They do not know that they are doomed to repeat all their old mistakes, and that they will never be free of their misery.

When you learn tantra, you are given the key to living life and experiencing relationships to the fullest extent. The deep insights that you gain into yourself, your beloved and your roles in the cosmic scheme of things allow you to rectify all flawed concepts and habits that hamper or destroy your relationships.

Are you ready to free yourself – and your relationship with your beloved – from the karmic cycle? It is never too late to do so. Find a qualified tantra teacher and find this freedom. Being free of the karmic influence of botched relationships is one of the greatest gifts you can ever receive.
