The True Nature of The Tantra Goddess

According to ancient tantra, there is a deep and inextricable connection between sex and spirituality. As such, human intimate relationships are therefore considered spiritual in nature. Where the necessary elements of this spiritual bond are missing, tantra gives us ways and means to introduce and nourish them. One such way is tantra goddess worship.

lotus The True Nature of The Tantra Goddess

It is deplorable to see how the sacred concept of tantra goddess worship has been bastardized today. It seems to have become a pseudo-spiritual pseudonym for female-dominant prostitution. Many online portals advertise so-called ‘tantra goddess worship services’ wherein men who enjoy being dominated sexually by a woman can pay for the privilege. Nothing could be further from what true worship of the tantric goddess truly is.

In tantra, the woman is genuinely seen as a goddess in all respects. She is the wellspring of creation and procreation, and the tantra goddess ‘puja’ (or worship) is both a series of rituals as well as an all-encompassing attitude on the part of the male. The male acknowledges that the sensual energies within the woman have been vested upon her by the Universe, and that it is from her that human life springs. The woman is therefore worshipped and her sacred sexual energy is given its rightful honour.

As the woman evolves in her male partner’s eyes from being a mere sexual object to the tantra goddess incarnate, a wonderful transformation takes place in their relationship. Mere intimacy becomes tantric love, and the cosmic dance between the tantric goddess and her worshipful consort commences. The male rises above his base physical desires and loses himself in his woman’s sacred incarnation. When sex does take place, it is nothing less than the celestial unification of the tantra god and tantra goddess. The relationship becomes holy in the eyes of the Universe, and is finally complete in all respects.

As the couple learn more about this wondrous new incarnation of their love from their tantra teacher, they become increasingly introspective and discover their innate spiritual potential. Love and intimacy become less self-seeking and more partner-focused. True communication begins, and the woman perceives – often for the first time in what may have been years of togetherness with the same man – that she is cherished and valued.

To learn about the transforming power of tantric goddess worship, it is essential that the partners seek the guidance of a gifted tantra master. Only in the context of expertly guided tantra for couples instructions can true sacred intimacy take place.

Compulsive Auto-Eroticism Is Incompatible With Tantra

There is a highly erroneous but persistent belief going round that auto-eroticism (with or without the use of pornography) is in some way compatible with or beneficial to the study of tantra. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, the tantric arts teach us to conserve and channelize sexual energy – not diffuse it wastefully.

energy Compulsive Auto Eroticism Is Incompatible With Tantra

In the Old Testament, the Bible admonishes man not to ‘spill his seed upon the ground.’ This warning has been interpreted in many ways. The Catholic Church used it to propagate its hard-line stance against contraception. To my thinking, this admonishment would be more aptly directed at compulsive self-gratification – which watching porn definitely encourages.

Learning tantra under an accomplished tantra master will definitely do wonders to your sex life, but sex is neither the beginning nor the end of the tantric sciences. The erotic expression of tantra energy has its place in the spiritual realm, but only when it takes place within the context of a loving, mutually worshipful man-woman relationship.

I am not against self-gratification itself. There is nothing wrong with it as long as it used as a means of relieving pent-up sexual energy that is becoming a source of stress and distress. There are many situations in modern life where indulging in sexual union with a loved one is not possible. In such situations, it is better to ‘spill one’s seed’ rather than be haunted by sexual desires that cannot be expressed in the best possible manner.

However, wilfully stoking the fires of these desires by compulsively indulging in porn is unhealthy and contrary to everything that tantra teaches. No genuine tantra teacher will ever advocate compulsive sexual behaviour. Tantra is a spiritual path that leads to wholesome relationships between the genders. The sexual powers that come with learning tantra must be used responsibly and maturely.

In order to practice tantra in the manner prescribed by the ancient tantric masters, one must understand and respect the nature and purpose of sexual energy. Our erotic drive has been given to us so that we may engage in a loving union with a beloved. It must be shared in a spirit of mutual adoration and cherishment. Compulsive self-gratification – with or without the use of pornography – is tantamount to compulsive self-love.

When abused as a means unto itself rather than being used wisely as a stress reliving method, it becomes an addiction. And any addiction, as we all know, is nothing short of selfish, wasteful, unspiritual and potentially harmful

The Importance Of Yoga In Tantra Sex

Why is yoga such an important facet of tantra and especially tantric sex? In the first place, yoga introduces balance in the practitioner’s body, mind and spirit. Physical, mental and spiritual equilibrium must be pursued and cultivated through tantra yoga and meditation, or else the pursuit of the tantric arts becomes a pointless exercise.

tantra The Importance Of Yoga In Tantra Sex

With the establishment of a balanced status quo via tantric yoga techniques, the student of tantra will perceive a new sense of moderation at the sexual level, as well. It is an unfortunate fact that most people today turn to tantra in a hope of discovering new levels of sexual excesses. The fact is that tantric sex is not about increasing quantity but rather quality of lovemaking. Tantra yoga moderates and focuses sexual desire and capabilities so that this quality is achievable.

Those who have sex only occasionally are probably not in as dire a need of tantric yoga as those who are very active. Frequent sex is, in itself, certainly not harmful as long as it takes place in a space of love and caring, not in one of compulsion. However, it is a fact that frequent orgasm amounts to an expenditure of prana Shakti. This essential energy replenishes itself, but the replenishment process becomes hampered if the ‘expense’ is consistently more than the ‘income’. This, in turn, can lead to cumulative loss of spiritual vibrancy – especially in the man.

As your tantra teacher will tell you, the male is in greater danger of prana Shakti depletion because it is the man who releases it the most during orgasm. Men who are very sexually active therefore find it harder to benefit from the spiritual aspects of tantric sex. For them, tantra yoga can be a great blessing, since it helps in bringing about a more stable inner environment while at the same time focusing the male energy in a more beneficial way.

However, it is the not the man alone who is responsible for this. The woman, as the recipient of his sexual gift, must also be trained in the art of sexual energy management. Under the tutelage of an accomplished tantra teacher, both the man and woman can learn how to use tantric yoga techniques to manage sexual energy in a more mutually fulfilling way. Without this ability to manage their erotic energy, it becomes difficult for the couple to attain the required levels of spiritual maturity that tantra sex requires.
